The Ritz-Carlton Hotels & Resorts, Asia-Pacific have announced Smile Asia Week from May 2 – 8, 2016 to sell specially created limited edition cakes across Asia. The campaign is to raise funds and awareness for the children suffering cleft and other facial deformities. Charity partner is Smile Asia – a global alliance of medical charities that heals children’s smiles through its dedicated medical volunteers.

Some 10,000 ladies and gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton from 24 hotels will bake 15,000 specially crafted cakes that will result in 500 life-changing surgeries to the poor and needy children across Asia.


In 2011, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore first incepted the idea of selling cakes in conjunction with Mother’s Day to raise funds in support of The Smile Mission. The recipe for a Valrhona Chocolate and Banana Cake was specially crafted by our pastry chefs to reflect the universal popularity of chocolate in bringing a smile to everyone’s face, and banana as a flavour that appeals to both children and adults alike. This Community Footprints Initiative which was originally branded A Reason to Smile, was so successful locally that in 2014, it evolved into a regional fundraising campaign called Smile Asia Week which would include The Ritz-Carlton Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific. The hotel’s signature Valrhona Chocolate and Banana Cake recipe was adopted by some of our sister properties and made available in their locations for sale during Smile Asia Week.

Valrhona Chocolate and Banana Cake

500 grams

Valrhona Chocolate, Valrhona Cocoa Powder, Egg, Sugar, Dairy, Gelatin, Banana Cream, Spices, Flour, Olive Oil, Cocoa Butter, Apricot Gel. May contain traces of nuts.

The cake is frozen and should ideally be consumed within four hours from collection. Please defrost before consumption. For storage, please keep refrigerated below 5˚ Celsius and consume within four days.

We regret to inform that we cannot provide personalized messages on the cakes. However, each cake will be delivered with a Smile Asia Week card.

All cakes are priced at S$35. Delivery charges of S$2 per cake will be levied for cake order between 6 to 9 cakes. For bulk orders of 10 or more cakes, delivery is free.

Cost of production will be attempted to be kept at 30%, while cost of promotion at 10%. The remainder will go towards charitable activities. However, the actual percentage may vary as it depends on the final number of cakes sold.

Smile Asia Week campaign is presented by The Smile Mission Ltd, in partnership with the The Ritz-Carlton Hotels & Resorts, Asia Pacific. Proceeds from Singapore will be used to send medical volunteers to surgical missions across Asia.

  • In the event that there is no recipient at the location to receive the cakes, the delivery company will leave an information slip for the recipient to arrange another suitable timing for delivery.
  • Delivery is available to all locations within Singapore, except – a) restricted addresses, including Changi Airport, Changi Cargo Centre, all Singapore ports, all military camps, etc.; and b) islands of Singapore, including Jurong Island, Sentosa Island, etc.
  • Any errors/discrepancies must be raised within 7 days of delivery. Refunds, if any, are limited to the value of the cakes and delivery (if charged).
  • For any issues related to delivery, please contact Uni-Tat at +65 – 6744 8484. The delivery company will endeavor to fulfill all deliveries. However, for any late deliveries and/or failure of delivery due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, the liability will be a maximum of the value of the cakes and delivery (if charged).
